Mr. Shivaji Sengupta organized and moderated the Supply Chain Cybersecurity panel at the AFCEA Homeland Security Conference held in Atlanta, GA on July 17-19 2023.
When we think about cybersecurity, they most often think of securing their networks, software, and digital assets against cyber-attacks and data breaches.
But the supply chain – whether a traditional manufacturer or service provider’s supply chain or the “data supply chain” relied on by most companies is also vulnerable to security risks, as has been seen in a litany of major data breaches via third parties. Every company large and small in the DIB has a place in the supply chain, and supply chains are evolving to be as much about the flow of information as they are about the flow of goods and services.
Supply Chain Cyber crosses the physical, logical and virtual aspects of information and data security and is every company’s responsibility. The supply chain as a whole is only truly secure when all entities throughout the supply chain carry out effective, coordinated security measures to ensure the integrity of supply chain data, the safety of goods, and the security of our Homeland.
To help address these and some very pertinent questions; we had on our panel:
Ryan Orr is a Sr. Risk Analyst in the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Ryan is a subject matter expert on Fifth Generation Mobile Networks (5G) and supports key analytical initiatives within CISA, including 5G, Cyber Supply Chain Risk Management, and The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).
Also with us today is Christian Lowry who is also a Sr. Risk Analyst in the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), National Risk Management Center (NRMC). Christian has had a long career being on both sides of the table both with civilian and government roles and will give us a fres perspective on this subject.
